The new Xtend Barre Stick class - which takes elements of the Xtend Barre but adds a stick for more options - is similar in the sense that you are sure to break a sweat and work hard; and, while you do spend time making sure your form is correct to avoid injuries and work in all the right places, it's really not about having the most perfect passe, develope, arabesque or other ballet terms that most clients just aren't familiar with, and aren't great at executing properly for the most part.
Ok so what about the class? All in all I loved it. The day after, I am sore in my upper back, legs and abs. I wasn't a fan of the first portion of the workout which focused on the arms. I thought the tension was just too strong, even when i moved closer to the bar in which case the tension was too slack - so it was tough to get a nice range of motion. i'm hoping different springs are available (we used blue ones) with various degrees of tension to fit everyone's fitness levels. That said, I really do feel I've worked the area very hard.
After the session I felt like I had gotten a proper workout - don't you just hate it when after working out for an hour you know you have to do something else because it was just too soft?
The class will soon be available at Real Pilates JLT and Palm Strip Mall in Dubai. See you there!
